Editorial standards
How the desk sources, checks, dates and corrects every rule in this handbook.
GOV.UK first
Every rule rests on a GOV.UK page or the Immigration Rules, quoted word for word in the handbook’s data. Law firms and news reports are never the authority. The full method is in Sources and method.
Two dates, never confused
| Date | What moves it |
|---|---|
| Updated | Only a change to the content of the page |
| Checked against GOV.UK | Only a fresh match of every passage behind the page |
| A rule’s own start date | Sits beside its figure, such as the general threshold of £41,700 since |
Every rules page also carries a dated History of its changes, from the Ledger and any editorial changes.
How often pages are reviewed
| What | When |
|---|---|
| A new Statement of Changes | Its Ledger entry is drafted within two days |
| Every source | Matched again on the first working day of each month |
| Every entry | Read through for clarity each quarter |
How AI is used
AI tools help with drafting only. Every fact is checked against its GOV.UK passage, and the passage is recorded with the fact. The handbook contains no generated images, people or quotations.
Corrections
When something is wrong, we fix it, date the fix and list it in the corrections log, with what was wrong and what the page says now. To report an error, email desk@ukvisasponsorguide.com.
Links to other sources
Most links go to GOV.UK and other official sources. Another publication or tool is linked only where it answers the reader’s next question, never in place of the official source.
Not advice
The handbook gives general information about the rules, never advice on a reader’s own case: for that, use a solicitor or an adviser regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority (gov.uk).
Pages carry the byline “The UK Visa Sponsor Guide desk”.
