Figures in force

Sources and method: how the rules are checked

Every rule here rests on a GOV.UK page, quoted word for word and dated when it was last checked.

Every rule comes from GOV.UK

Each rule, figure and date here is quoted from an official source, in its own words. Secondary sources, such as law firms and news reports, are never the authority.

Official sources the handbook quotes
SourcePublished on
The Immigration Rules and their appendices (gov.uk)GOV.UK
Statements of Changes and their explanatory memoranda (gov.uk)GOV.UK
Guidance for each route, such as the Graduate visa (gov.uk) pagesGOV.UK
Home Office caseworker guidance, marked as guidance wherever it is usedGOV.UK

Each figure is matched word for word

Every figure is held once, in one data file, with its GOV.UK passage, its start date and its last check date. Pages render each figure from that file; none is typed by hand.

Every source is fetched again each month

On the first working day of each month, every source page is fetched again. “Checked against GOV.UK” moves only when every passage still matches.

Any difference is reviewed before anything changes. The sweep also catches fees, which change by regulations without a Statement of Changes.

Not verified, so left out

Facts left out for now, and why
Left outWhy
A surcharge total for the 18-month Graduate visaGOV.UK gives two
Start dates of some fees, charges and older rulesNot verified on GOV.UK
Register counts by licence rating for the current snapshotNot verified on GOV.UK
An earned settlement outcomeNone found, so it stays a proposal
Going rates by occupation codePages link to Appendix Skilled Occupations instead

Where a start date is not verified, the page says “Start date not verified” and never guesses one.

The register count, by its method and date

Paragraph 1

121,996 organisations had a Skilled Worker route row in a copy of the register published on , each counted once by name. The current file differs slightly, as the register is updated most working days. The source copy is described in a register snapshot with its date.
